OC v. Slingo

Description

On November 11, 2016, Option consommateurs and Mr. Denis Dagenais filed an application for authorization to institute a class action against the Société des loteries du Québec (Loto-Québec).

In particular, Loto-Québec is accused of making false or misleading representations concerning the Big Money Slingo online game, suggesting that it is a game in which the allocation of prizes is determined by chance (number generator), when in fact it is a game in which the outcome is predetermined (like a scratch card game).

The purpose of theclass action is to obtain for members a sum equivalent to the total of their bets, less any prizes paid out in cash (with the exception of free bets), as well as the payment of punitive damages.

Option consommateurs and Mr. Dagenais are represented by Sylvestre Painchaud et associés.

Our members

"All persons who have entered into a gaming contract for consideration with the defendant to play the online version of the Slingo game with number generator since May 30, 2016."

It should be noted that this class action only concerns the internet version of the Big Money Slingo game, and does not cover the scratch cards sold at newsstands or in shops.
