OC v. Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, Mitsui, NYK Line, among others (Roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) shipping)

Option Consommateur has initiated a class action against Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, NYK Line (North America) Inc, NYK Line (Canada), Inc, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd, Mitsui O.S.K. Bulk Shipping (U.S.A.), Inc, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd, "K" Line America, Inc, Eukor Car Carriers, Inc, WWL Vehicle Services Canada Ltd, Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA, Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding ASA, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics Americas, LLC, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics AS, Wallenius Lines AB, Nissan Motor Carrier Co, Ltd, World Logistics Service (USA) Inc, Höegh Autoliners AS and Höegh Autoliners, Inc.

It accuses these companies of conspiring with each other to raise the price of the Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) service for the maritime transport of vehicles, including new motor vehicles and agricultural machinery.

class action seeks reimbursement of revenues generated by the artificially inflated portion of the price of ro-ro shipping services in Canada.

 

Our members 

You are a member ofclass action if you have purchased Ro-Ro marine transportation services in Quebec, or purchased or leased a new motor vehicle, new farm machinery or new construction equipment in Quebec that was transported by Ro-Ro vessel between February 1, 1997 and December 31, 2012.

The Superior Court authorized class action onst April 2019.
