Prêt du quartier gives you access to small loans ranging from $200 to $800. To qualify, you must be referred to Option consommateurs by a community organization and meet certain criteria:

• You must be facing an unforeseen, non-recurring expense that relates to an immediate need. For example, the purchase of back-to-work tools, eyeglasses, school supplies, etc. Requests concerning a bill that has already been paid or rent will be refused.
• You live within the following quadrilateral: Van Horne Street and Rosemont Boulevard (North), the St. Lawrence River (South), Pie IX Boulevard (East), Guy Street and Côte-des-Neiges Road (West).
• You are a low-income person.
• You are unable to obtain a loan from a financial institution.
• You have a certain repayment capacity.
• You are a member of a Desjardins caisse populaire or would like to become one.

Your loan application will undergo a budget consultation. If accepted by a loan committee, you will have up to 12 months to repay your loan interest-free. In the meantime, we'll provide you with follow-up support to help you manage your budget.
