Option consommateurs vs. Home Depot
Option consommateurs accuses Home Depot of breaching its legal obligations by sharing personal information with Facebook without the consent of the members of the proposed group, and of violating their fundamental right to privacy.
Who are the members?
You are a member of the class action if you have a Facebook account, have purchased or rented a product or service in Quebec at a Home Depot store or on the Homedepot.ca website, and have provided your email address to Home Depot between January 1, 2018, and October 30, 2022.
Where are we now?
On January 27, 2023, a motion for authorization to bring a class action was filed in the Superior Court of Quebec. On February 13, 2026, the Quebec Court of Appeal authorized the class action.
The class action is currently proceeding to the merits phase.
