Option consommateurs c. Budget, Avis, Discount car and truck rental and Via route, etc. (Young drivers)

Description

Option consommateurs accuses short-term vehicle rental companies of engaging in a discriminatory and lesionary practice by imposing additional charges or refusing to enter into a rental contract for some or all types of vehicles because of the age of one of the drivers named in the rental contract.

The target companies are :

5- 2313-7292 Québec inc (Discount car and truck rentals and Via route)

6- Dany Sévigny inc. team (Discount location d'autos et camions and Via route Sherbrooke)

7- Enterprise Canada Car Rental (Enterprise, National and Alamo)

8- 9093-4233 Québec inc (Globe Car)

9- Globe location d'autos et camions inc.

And

10- Hertz Canada Limited;

11- Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Canada inc.

Our members

You may be affected by this class action if, since August 16, 2016 or, in the case of Hertz Canada Limited and Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Canada Inc. since June 30, 2021, while under the age of 25, you have entered into or been refused a short-term vehicle rental contract with one of these companies.

Where we are

class action has been authorized by the Superior Court.

If you are covered by this class action, you do not have to register or do anything else to be included. You are automatically included inclass action.

A member other than a representative or intervenor may not be called upon to pay the legal costs ofclass action.

Any member wishing to intervene in the present class action may ask the court to allow his or her intervention, if it is considered useful to the Group.

If you wish to exclude yourself fromclass action, you have until June 9, 2022, to do so. Details of how to exclude yourself can be found in the notices to members below.
