Locatel

On May 3, 1999, we filed a motion for authorization to institute a class action against Locatel. In our view, Locatel's contracts contain unfair clauses contrary to the Consumer Protection Act, and there is a considerable discrepancy between the value of the furniture offered by Locatel and the prices consumers are asked to pay when they want to buy it. The aim of the action is to compensate the aggrieved consumers.

Our members

You're probably one of them if, since May 3, 1996, you've bought furniture from Locatel and paid too high a price for it.

Where we are

On March 21, 2007, Judge Suzanne Courteau approved a settlement putting an end to the class action.

As the defendant had virtually no assets, the settlement provided for the payment of $10,000 to the Fonds d'aide aux recours collectifs to reimburse part of its financial assistance.
