Columbia House and Sony Music Entertainment (shipping costs)

Description
In April 2002, we filed a class action against Columbia House (Club Musique) and Sony Music Entertainment. The class action seeks reimbursement of late fees and shipping and handling charges overcharged. Under the Consumer Protection Act, only interest charges can be billed to a consumer who fails to meet his or her obligations. On the other hand, according to Option consommateurs, shipping and handling charges are abusive and the advertising about them is misleading. The purpose of the action is to compensate the aggrieved consumer.

Members
You are a member if, since June 19, 1993, you have become a member of the Columbia House Music Club and have purchased, for example, cassettes or compact discs, and have paid interest charges or abusive shipping and handling fees.

Where we stand
We are waiting for the hearing to authorize this recourse.
