Enjoy your vacations without breaking the bank

Whether we're talking about spring break, summer vacation or the holiday season, vacations are supposed to be a time for rest and rejuvenation. But they can also bring their share of stress, especially financial stress.

Here are a few tips to help you plan your next break, so you can relax with peace of mind.

Before determining which projects or activities will occupy this period, it's essential toassess how much money you'll have available
. To do this, you can use our budget grid. This tool will also help you save for your next vacation. By saving a small amount each week, you'll gradually build up the amount you need for next year!

Remember that vacations should be planned according to the surplus in your budget and never on available credit. Vacationing and debt are not a winning combination!

Let's take the example of a family of 4 that spends $500 for 2 days of camping at a site offering family activities. If the payment is made with your credit card and you only pay the minimum payment each month, it will take you 5 years and 10 months to clear this debt. In addition, interest charges will add $297.69 to the cost of your getaway. In total, your trip will have cost $797.69 instead of the $500 you had planned.* It's a good idea to think about it!

Once you've determined the amount of money you have available for your vacation, make a list of the activities or projects you'd like to accomplish. Estimate the cost of each activity or project on your list, and make sure the total is within the amount you've freed up from your budget surplus.

As we all know, you can spend a lot of money on vacation! So it's always a good idea to shop around
and compare prices. Check out the promotions!

Remember, vacations don't have to be expensive! As long as they allow you to get away from your routine and spend quality time with the ones you love, mission accomplished!

Happy vacations!
