Option consommateurs responds to the invitation from the Quebec Minister of Finance to comment on various issues raised in the Report on the Application of the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services (LDPSF), published in May 2015.
We believe that regulating the distribution of insurance products via the Internet and regulating distribution without a representative should be two of the government's priorities for action arising from the application report. Improvements to victim compensation are also necessary. We also take issue with the report's suggestion that the current regulatory burden is too great, and that it is possible to lighten it while maintaining an adequate framework for the distribution of financial products and services.
